That is the only foldable device that Xiaomi has announced thus far. Well, based on a new report, this new foldable handset will be quite similar to the Mi MIX Fold. It will have the same form factor, and look really similar as well, maybe even the same.

Xiaomi is working on a new foldable smartphone, but not the MIX Fold 2

This is not the MIX Fold 2, more like a refresh of the original one. The report claims that this new phone will bring improved screens, amongst other things. It will offer a 90Hz refresh rate on the foldable display, and a 120Hz refresh rate on the external one. The original offers a 60Hz + 90Hz combo on those two panels, respectively. This new phone will also offer an under-display camera. The tipster did not reveal under which display will it be placed, though, the main one, or the secondary one.

It will offer considerably faster charging

Xiaomi is also planning to improve the charging speeds, allegedly. The tipster says the company will include 120W fast charging in this device, compared to 67W charging inside the Mi MIX Fold. A 5,000mAh battery will be included inside of this phone. So, it will be slightly smaller than the one in the original, as the Mi MIX Fold shipped with a 5,020mAh battery pack. That is basically everything there is to talk about, it seems. Everything else will remain the same, it seems. Perhaps this is the variant that Xiaomi plans to push to global markets. The Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold launched in China, and it did not launch outside of Xiaomi’s homeland. It was expected to arrive to global markets already, but that never happened. We don’t know if the chips shortage has something to do with it, or if Xiaomi wants to further improve the device. Also, we don’t know what will this device be called. It almost certainly won’t be called the Mi MIX Fold 2. On top of that, Xiaomi almost certainly won’t use the ‘Mi’ branding anymore, as it ditched it earlier this year.
