The Thom Browne editions of the new foldables were made available for pre-orders in Taiwan at noon on Thursday, August 26. Five minutes later, the devices have already sold out, both on Samsung Mall and Samsung Breeze Nanshan Flagship Experience Hall. According to the company, visitors flooded the Hall after it put the new foldables on exhibition there.
Thom Browne editions come with an exclusive exterior
Samsung has been collaborating with the American fashion designer Thom Browne for giving its foldables an exclusive starting with the original Galaxy Z Flip last year. Every Galaxy product launched at the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event earlier this month is getting the Thom Browne treatment. These include the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Flip 3, Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch Classic, and the Galaxy Buds 2. The limited-edition devices come in the fashion house’s signatory tricolor scheme. They predominantly feature a white background with blue and red stripes around the edges. Even the S Pen and S Pen Pro, as well as wireless charging pads, are getting the same treatment. Of course, the extras come at a premium but their fashion statement means the devices are usually in high demand. The previous-gen Thom Browne Samsung foldables sold out pretty quickly and as we can see, they are in great demand this year as well. Samsung didn’t reveal how many units of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 Thom Browne editions were available for pre-order in Taiwan. But it hasn’t re-stocked the devices as yet. It appears the company has indeed run out of stock in the country. Even the standard Galaxy Z Fold 3 is now seemingly out of stock. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is still available as of this writing. The two phones cost NT$56,888 (approx. $2,036) and NT$30,888 ($1,105), respectively. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 go on sale starting today.
