New Magic Eraser feature is making its way to the Pixel 6 & 6 Pro
Magic Eraser can erase objects from images after you take them. That way, you can remove people in the background, unwanted objects, and so on. Well, this new feature goes a step further, it allows you to change the color of those objects. In other words, you can camouflage those objects with a single tap. Do note that you cannot choose the color you want it to be, it will simply blend in with the background. Google’s AI will take care of that. Why is this useful? Well, you can simply make some objects pop out less. If you have a really shiny object in the frame, which you’d like to keep, but you’d like to make it less visible, that’s where the Camouflage feature comes in. This is how you use it
How do you use it? All you have to do is open the Google Photos app on your Pixel, then tap ‘Edit’, and ‘Tools’ from the next menu. There you will see the ‘Magic Eraser’ feature. There will not be a toggle there, the one that allows you to choose between ‘erase’ and camouflage’. Choose the ‘camouflage’ option, and simply mark the part of the image you’d like to be camouflaged. Google will do the rest. Simply save the image afterwards. Do note that the image you’re editing will likely have to be taken with a Pixel phone, though, as is usually the case. This feature is rolling out, and it may have even rolled out to everyone. If not, you’ll get it in the near future, so don’t worry. It seems to be a server-side switch, though.
