The OnePlus Pad is coming with Android 12L, at some point in Q1 2022

The source notes that this tablet is expected to launch at some point in Q1 2022. Android 12L, for those of you who don’t know, is a special version of Android designed for tablets and foldable smartphones. You can read more about it here. Details on the OnePlus Pad are actually quite scarce at the moment. Not much information surfaced, other than its expected launch timeframe, and the fact it will ship with Android 12L. We do expect this tablet to be quite powerful, though. OnePlus will probably want to show off considering this is the company’s first tablet, and there’s nothing wrong with that. This may become a direct competitor to the Galaxy Tab S8 series, which is expected to launch today. On the flip side, I may be completely wrong, OnePlus could end up utilizing mid-range specs for the tablet. It remains to be seen, of course. If this thing is really supposed to launch before the end of Q1 2022, then more info will likely surface soon.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is rumored to fuel the tablet

A while back, it was rumored that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will be utilized, along with 125W fast wired charging. We’re not sure how much merit that rumor has, but there you go. We also don’t know what this tablet will look like just yet. Its design didn’t surface yet, but it is expected to pop up soon. OnePlus did confirm it’s working on new product categories, and it seems like this tablet is one of them. The very first OnePlus smartphone was launched back in April 2014. Some may say it’s surprising that the company didn’t launch a tablet yet. Well, Android tablets weren’t exactly that popular over the year, so it’s somewhat understanding. Google is trying to revive the category, and cater to foldable smartphones, with Android 12L. So, we’re expecting to see more tablets in the market moving forward. Though, truth be said, the Android 12L is probably here more because of foldable smartphones.
