The OnePlus Nord N200 is more durable than you may think

The OnePlus Nord N200 is one of the company’s most affordable smartphones, so our expectations weren’t all that high. Still, the device managed to surprise us, that’s for sure. Let’s start with the scratch test. The phone’s display is covered in glass, and it offers nice protection. First scratches were visible when Zack used a level six pick, which is basically on par with flagship phones.

‘Plastic’ is the keyword here

In the video embedded below, you’ll find out that the phone is mostly made out of plastic. Its buttons, and frame are made out of plastic, and the same goes for its backplate. The phone’s cameras are well-protected, behind glass, that doesn’t apply to an LED flash, though. Its side-facing fingerprint scanner works even if you scratch it real bad, as Zack did in the video. The backplate even feels like glass at first, but it’s just plastic, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Exposing this IPS display to direct flame will affect its pixels, as on any phone, but they do recover quickly.

The phone even survived the bend test

What’s interesting is that the phone even survived the bend test. Something did snap on the inside when the pressure was applied from the front, but it was not visible, nor did it affect the phone’s functionality. It will be interesting to find out what snapped, though. Zack promised to do a teardown soon, so we’ll have to wait for that. All in all, the OnePlus Nord N200 did fairly well in these durability tests. It is made out of plastic, but that’s not necessarily a negative. It managed to survive every single one of those tests, and even shine in some of them, which is definitely a positive.
