Two new POCO phones launched at MWC 2022

When Xiaomi first introduced the POCO phone back in 2018, it shocked tech users by bringing the latest Snapdragon SoC at the price of a mid-range device. Since then, POCO has continued the trend of offering “flagship killer” phones while Xiaomi proper would offer the more pricey phones. At MWC, the company pulled the veils off of two new POCO phones that will offer some great value for their prices. First off, we have the POCO M4 Pro. This phone has a sizable 6.43-inch AMOLED DOTdisplay that can run at 90Hz. As expected, this phone has a 1080p+ display, which should be plenty. As for the chipset, the POCO M4 Pro isn’t exactly using the latest and greatest silicon. It uses the MediaTek Helio G96 SoC, but it has a decent 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. There’s also a variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.  Keeping the lights on is a large 5,000mAh battery. Jumping over to the back, this phone sports a triple camera setup with a 64MP camera at the helm. Backing it up is an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. Upfront, there’s a 16MP selfie camera, and that camera is housed in a punch-hole in the display.

The POCO X4 Pro 5G is the more powerful of the two

While it gives you some decent specs for its price, the M4 Pro is a step or two behind the POCO X4 Pro 5G. This phone shares the same screen resolution as the M4 Pro, but it can get up to 120Hz. It’s also slightly bigger at 6.67 inches. Instead of the MediaTek SoC, the X4 Pro 5G has a Snapdragon 695 5G SoC. That keeps this phone in the midrange section of the market. In terms of storage and RAM, you have some more options. The less powerful variant comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The upper-tier variant has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. This phone also shares the 5,000mAh battery of the POCO M4 Pro. For the camera, both phones have the same specs, but there’s one exception. The main camera on the X4 Pro 5G is a 108MP shooter, which should make for really detailed shots. These phones really made a splash at MWC 2022. If you want to buy these phones, the M4 Pro starts at €219 (~$246), and the X4 Pro 5G costs €299 (~$335).
