The video is meant to let users know that the Pixel 5a brings back the often ignored headphone jack. Somewhat ironically, however, the headphone jack is missing from Google’s flagship phones, including the upcoming Pixel 6. “Yes, it’s a headphone jack. With the Google Pixel 5a with 5G, the circle has finally come full circle,” the narrator says in the video. Pre-orders of the Pixel 5a with 5G started shipping out to customers last week
The video came ahead of the Pixel 5a 5G release in the U.S. and Japan late last week. It will compete with Apple’s iPhone SE and the iPhone 12 mini, so the commercial couldn’t have come at a better time. Google is offering the Pixel 5a with 5G for $449 in the U.S., with the phone going up for pre-order earlier this month. We recently learned that some pre-orders of the smartphone were shipping early. The Pixel 5a offers a 6.34-inch 2400 x 1080 OLED screen paired with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It runs on the octa-core Snapdragon 765G processor and is backed by 6GB of RAM plus 128GB of storage. The price tag certainly makes it attractive, particularly among other 5G phones. The phone also has excellent camera credentials thanks to dual 12MP + 16MP sensors on the back. The front has an 8MP selfie camera. A 4,680mAh battery is used here, with Google promising a full day’s use and software features like ‘Extreme Battery Saver.’ The Pixel 5a with 5G runs stock Android 11 and will be among the first to get future Android updates.
