The Pixel 6a is responsible for “Solid Growth In Hardware Revenues”
Those are great news, not only for Google, but for consumers as well. The Pixel 6a truly is a great smartphone, especially at its price tag. The phone is actually heavily discounted as we speak, as it costs only $299 at the moment. Even at its regular price tag of $449, it’s a great buy. In fact, branding it the best smartphone under the $500 price tag wouldn’t be a stretch at all. Quite a few people decided to buy one, it seems, and as already mentioned, those are great news. That will, hopefully, push Google to continue down that road, and offer compelling ‘Pixel a series’ devices in the future. The combination of solid build quality, a good camera, Google’s take on Android, and an excellent price tag did the trick.
The Pixel 6a sales are a part of “Google other” revenues
Now, in regard to revenues. The Pixel 6a sales are actually reported as part of “Google other” revenues. Those revenues equaled $6,895 billion in Q3, compared to $6.754 billion a year before that. That category actually includes paid YouTube subscriptions, and various other things. Google, unfortunately, did not share the exact sales numbers for the Pixel 6a. We’re guessing those numbers are not huge compared to some of the competition, but they are probably higher than Google anticipated. Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, said that Google “recently had [its] highest selling week ever for Pixel”, though he was referencing the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. Earlier this year, Pichai mentioned a “quarterly sales record” for Pixel phones, for which the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro were responsible. It remains to be seen how well will the Pixel 7 series sell, but based on initial reactions, Google has a reason to be optimistic.
