Basically, Quick Phrases will allow you to give the Assistant commands without having to say “Hey Google” first. At launch, it’ll be pretty limited though. Only able to do simple things like saying “stop” for a timer, “snooze” for an alarm and “answer” or “decline” for an incoming call. It doesn’t sound like much, but these Quick Phrases could really come in handy for those that are busy and can’t take the time it takes to decline a call. Just saying “decline” is so much simpler.
On top of that, Google is also enhancing the “At A Glance” widget
Google is also enhancing the At A Glance widget that appears on the home screen and lock screen on your Android device. It wants Assistant to work more ambiently on your device. So you don’t need to think about it. At A Glance can already pull in things like the time, date and weather. But now, it will also be able to pull in information from your calendar, like flights and hotel stays. It can even show you a QR code for your boarding pass. Which is infinitely useful when you’re about to board a plane. Since it is right there on your lock screen. These are going to be exclusive to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro for now. Which is pretty common for new Google Assistant features. Though, it’s unclear when these will head to older Pixel devices and even other Android devices. It’s usually a few months or so. Mostly to work out any sort of bugs, but also to get you to buy the new Pixel.
