As of this writing, the stable Android 13 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 in the US is available for carrier-locked units on T-Mobile’s network. The new firmware version for the two foldables is F936USQU1BVK3 and F721USQU1BVK3, respectively (via). Samsung should cover units on other carriers as well as unlocked models of the foldable duo with the new Android version in the coming days. Note that the two phones have already picked up Android 13 in most international markets, including Europe, Asia, and Africa. This update brings plenty of new features and improvements to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. Samsung has given its One UI custom software a visual refresh with bolder app icons, smoother animations, and reorganized menus. We also have new camera features, more customizations, and privacy and security improvements. Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are also getting the November security patch with the latest update. Samsung says the new SMR (Security Maintenance Release) patches more than 60 vulnerabilities. A handful of those vulnerabilities were labeled critical by the company.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 get their first major Android OS update

Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 running Android 12 a few months back. This is the first major Android OS update for the foldable duo. The company will seed three more of these in the future. So the new foldables will get updates until Android 16 sometime in 2025. Meanwhile, if you’re using either of these phones in the US, watch out for the Android 13 update in the coming days. Head over to Settings > Software update and tap on Download and install to check for updates manually. You may also get a notification once the OTA package is available for your unit.
