The Galaxy S23 series seems to be on the right path for February 2023 launch
Having said that, this is not exactly a rumor, a confirmation, or anything of the sort. What happened is that the Galaxy S23+’s battery got certified by Safety Korea, reports SamMobile. How can that indicate the Galaxy S23 series release date, you wonder? Well, the Galaxy S22+’s battery got certified a year ago, in September 2021. This does not guarantee anything, of course, but it sure seems like Samsung follows in its own footsteps. The company could yet schedule a launch for a different month, but that’s highly unlikely. In any case, the model number of the battery is EB-BS916ABY, and it will be used in the SM-S916B. That is the Galaxy S23+’s model number, for those of you who are keeping track. The battery itself is manufactured by China’s ATL (Ningde Amperex Technology Limited). That is the same company that made batteries for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4.
We still don’t know its capacity, though
Some of you may wonder what is this battery’s capacity. Well, unfortunately, the capacity is unreadable in the provided image (below), so we don’t really know yet.
Samsung is expected to announce three Galaxy S23 smartphones. In addition to the vanilla model, the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra are expected. There is, of course, a possibility Samsung will do something differently this time around. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is expected to fuel the Galaxy S23 series globally. Samsung is tipped to ditch its Exynos SoC for its upcoming flagship smartphones. An Exynos chip was used in Europe only for the Galaxy S22 series, and it was clearly inferior to the Snapdragon version, in several ways.
