What makes the claim interesting is that it contradicts previous rumors that Samsung will offer the industry’s brightest smartphone display on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. We heard last month that the upcoming Galaxy flagship could go up to 2,200 nits of peak brightness, notably higher than the current leader Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max. The latest iPhone model offers a maximum screen brightness of 2,000 nits. It appears Samsung decided to not push things so high. Instead, it seems to have focused on improvements elsewhere. The Galaxy S23 series will reportedly render colors brighter and clearer under direct sunlight as compared to the Galaxy S22, despite no change in peak brightness. And the vanilla model getting the same treatment is the icing on the cake.
The Galaxy S23 series will get bigger batteries
We have long heard that Samsung will stuff more battery power inside the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+. Both models will get a 200mAh boost in battery capacity, reaching 3,900mAh and 4,700mAh, respectively. The Ultra model, meanwhile, will retain its 5,000mAh power unit. Ahmed Qwaider has now reiterated this. He further added that the vanilla model will support 25W fast charging while the Plus and Ultra models will boast up to 45W charging support. So there’s no change in that department. Samsung has been rather cautious when it comes to charging speed, so it’s not surprising. The latest set of Galaxy S23 leaks also touches the camera. It’s all but officially confirmed that Samsung will equip the Galaxy S23 Ultra with a 200MP primary shooter. The rest of the camera array is unchanged, at least in terms of resolution. We have a 12MP ultrawide lens and two 10MP zoom cameras with 10X and 3X optical zoom, respectively. But on the front, Samsung is switching to a 12MP selfie camera from a 40MP sensor on the current Ultra. Of course, a lower resolution doesn’t mean worse picture quality. A lot depends on the camera algorithms and software processing. With just over a month to go for the rumored launch date of February 1, 2023, leaks about the Galaxy S23 series should come more frequently now.
