The Galaxy F42 is a budget phone, though its specs are nothing to scoff at. Let’s talk about its design first, though. The phone is made out of plastic, and it comes with a waterdrop display notch. Its bezels are not too thick, but the bottom bezel is noticeably thicker than the rest.

The Galaxy A42 has four cameras overall, and a 90Hz display

There are three cameras included on the back, along with Samsung’s logo. A side-facing fingerprint scanner is also a part of the package. This phone does support 5G connectivity, by the way. The phone features a 6.6-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) Infinity-V LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC fuels the phone. The device includes 6GB / 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of expandable storage (expandable up to 1TB). Android 11 comes pre-installed on this phone, along with Samsung’s One UI 3.1. A 5,000mAh battery is also included, and it supports 15W wired charging. Wireless charging is not supported. There are two SIM card slots here (2x nano SIM), plus a separate microSD card slot. The phone does have a 3.5mm headphone jack, and offers Dolby Atmos support. Bluetooth 5.1 is also included, while a Type-C USB port sits at the bottom.

A 64-megapixel camera is leading the pack

A 64-megapixel main camera (f/1.8 aperture), is backed by a 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera (f/2.2 aperture), and a 2-megapixel depth unit (f/2.4 aperture). An 8-megapixel camera (f/2.0) sits on the front side of the phone. The Galaxy F42 comes in Matte Black and Matte Blue color options. Its pricing starts at $283 in India, by the way. It is possible this handset will stay exclusive to India. On the flip side, Samsung may release it in other markets, though under a different name.
