Samsung is rolling out the September security update to both 4G and 5G variants of the Galaxy A52. The former is getting the new SMR in Russia with firmware version A525FXXS4BVI2. That for the latter is A526BXXS1CVH7. The 5G variant is picking up the update in some Latin American countries, including Brazil and Colombia. The September SMR for both models should be available widely over the next few days. The Galaxy A33, which only comes in a 5G flavor, is receiving the new security update in Asia. The rollout has begun in Indonesia and Malaysia with firmware version A336EDXU4AVH9. We expect Samsung to cover the Galaxy A33 5G units globally with the September SMR in the coming days. This phone is getting some system stability improvements with the latest release. There isn’t anything extra for the Galaxy A52, though. The update is all about this month’s vulnerability fixes. Samsung has already confirmed that the September SMR patches over 50 vulnerabilities. These include Android OS patches from Google as well. The Android maker fixed several high-severity privacy and security bugs that affected its operating system. But the majority of vulnerability patches that Galaxy devices are getting this month are from Samsung. The Korean firm patched 29 bugs that affected its Android-powered smartphones and tablets. The flaws compromised the security of various device components such as Video Editor, Photo Editor, System UI, and more.

The September security update reaches more Galaxy smartphones

Samsung has been seeding the September SMR to its devices since early last week. The company has updated dozens of Galaxy smartphones to the latest patch during this period. All of those vulnerability fixes are now rolling out to the Galaxy A52, Galaxy A52 5G, and Galaxy A33 5G. If you’re using any of these devices, you can look forward to the new update. As usual, this update will roll out in batches to all eligible units globally. So it may take a few days to reach everyone. You will be notified once the OTA (over-the-air) package is available for your unit. In the meantime, you can manually check for updates from the Settings app.
