Having spent the better part of 5 years with a DX Racer (now an ergonomic chair as I got rid of the DX Racer a couple years ago) for everything from a 9-hour work day to a few hours of gaming after work, I never thought I’d be back in a gaming chair like it again for the rest of my life. Ewin saw fit to change my mind on gaming chairs and sent one over for me to test out. And while I was skeptical at first, I am happy to say, consider my mind changed. But what makes the Champion Series gaming chair from EwinRacing such a good chair? Well, that’s what this review aims to outline.

The EwinRacing Champion Series gaming chair is built for heavy duty comfort

Not all gaming chairs are built the same. And that has never seemed more true with the Champion Series EwinRacing gaming chair. Hailed by the company as “America’s #1 heavy duty gaming chair brand,” it definitely feels like that claim will stand up. While all of Ewin’s chairs will have different features and weight limits, the Champion Series in particular is a max 400 lbs. heavy duty gaming chair. That means it can support up to 400 lbs. comfortably. If you need something with a higher weight limit, Ewin sells options in that range too. So there seems to be something for everyone. Aside from the weight limit, all of the pieces of the chair felt sturdy and well-made when putting the chair together. The metal frame construction doesn’t feel like it’ll break down or become less durable over time. Plus, the E-Win Stain Resistant 2.0 PU leather is easy to clean. Overall, this is a chair you should be able to sit in and play games with for years to come.

The hubless casters feel like an underrated feature

I’ve had a few different gaming chairs in my life and numerous office chairs. And not one of them has ever come with hubless casters. This feels like a highly underrated feature, and is something I was really excited to see with the Champion Series chair. To me, it felt like it made moving the chair across the floor a lot easier than other chairs I’ve used. While most chairs can move easily enough across hardwood or other hard surfaces, it’s a different story when it comes to carpet. Which is the kind of material my chairs have generally sat on. With the Champion Series gaming chair from Ewin, it never felt like I had to put in extra effort to shove the chair out of the way if I wanted to kick back and watch TV while I lay down. Which I would typically do at the end of most nights. Then I could just as easily move the chair back the next day when I wanted to sit down and play some games. As I was switching back and forth between an ergonomic chair for work and the Ewin chair for gaming, this felt like an important feature to me. With most other chairs I have used, any time I need to move it out of the way or back to in front of my desk, the wheels could sometimes stick. This wasn’t an issue with the chair from Ewin. Plus, the hubless casters just look a lot nicer.

Setup of the EwinRacing gaming chair was relatively easy

When you buy a gaming chair, they don’t usually come pre-built. At least not the ones I’ve tested. That’s no different with the chairs from Ewin as it will come disassembled (for the most part) and you’ll have to put it together yourself. The good news is that the setup was pretty easy. My only complaint here is that the unit I received ended up having a couple of extra steps. As I had to remove the pre-assembled arms that were already attached to the seat so I could fit the base of the chair (the multi-function tilt mechanism) to the bottom. To clarify, the arms are supposed to come attached to the seat. However, the brackets were assembled too far inward. So I had to remove each arm and reattach them a little bit further out. This had to be done before the base could fit where it was supposed to. This wasn’t a major issue. But it did extend the length of time to put the whole thing together. This was likely a small mistake. But I felt it was worth mentioning. One thing I loved about this chair setup process is that Ewin packages a pair of gloves in with the other parts. These have grippy finger tips and are meant to be worn during assembly. So you don’t end up getting grease all over your hands and you can grab the small parts easier. The rest of the assembly is also simple thanks to the use of just two hex pins for all the components.

Should you buy the EwinRacing gaming chair?

That all depends. Do you need a really comfortable gaming chair? Then yes you should consider buying one. Do you also want one with loads of features? If so, the answer is once again yes. If you need or want something with lumbar support that’s also heavy duty and built to last, well… the answer is still yes. EwinRacing has a gaming chair option for everyone. Big, tall, small, short, you name it. While racing style chairs may not be for everybody, don’t overlook EwinRacing if gaming chairs in this style are your thing. Plus, right now Ewin is holding a Black Friday sale where some of the chairs are discounted. You can also get up to 25% off if you use the code “AH” at checkout via this link.
